90% of Japanese Companies Say Trump is Bad for Business: Reuters Survey

A Reuters survey conducted in February 2025 has revealed that 90% of Japanese companies view former U.S. President Donald Trump as bad for business. The survey highlights concerns over Trump’s trade policies, including tariffs and trade restrictions, which have created uncertainty for Japanese firms.

“Trump’s unpredictable policies make it challenging to plan for the future,” said Hiroshi Tanaka, CEO of a Tokyo-based manufacturing firm. The survey also found that Japanese companies are increasingly diversifying their supply chains and reducing reliance on the U.S. market.

Analysts warn that a potential second Trump administration could further strain U.S.-Japan trade relations and disrupt global supply chains. The findings underscore the need for stable and predictable trade policies to support international business.
