Elon Musk’s The Boring Company has signed a preliminary agreement with Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) to construct the Dubai Loop, a 17-kilometer (10.6-mile) underground high-speed transport network. The project, announced during the World Governments Summit, will initially include 11 stations and trains capable of speeds up to 160 kilometers per hour.
The Dubai Loop is designed to transport over 20,000 passengers per hour initially, with future expansions increasing capacity to more than 100,000 passengers per hour. The system will focus on alleviating traffic congestion in Dubai’s most crowded areas.
UAE’s Minister of Artificial Intelligence, Omar Al Olama, revealed the project during a video interview with Musk, highlighting its potential to revolutionize urban transportation. The Boring Company’s innovative tunneling technology is expected to play a key role in the project’s success.
