Taiwan’s semiconductor industry has become a cornerstone of the global economy, and officials are reaffirming their commitment to collaborative growth, dismissing claims that Taiwan has an unfair monopoly over chip production.
Taiwan’s Semiconductor Leadership and Economic Contributions
Wu Cheng-wen noted that Taiwan’s semiconductor sector accounts for a significant portion of global chip supply, helping power industries from AI development to automotive manufacturing. Taiwan’s dominance, he argued, is the result of long-term economic planning and investment, not a takeover of U.S. industries.
A Shared Responsibility
Wu reiterated that global supply chains are interdependent, with the U.S., Japan, and Taiwan each playing key roles in chip production. Taiwan remains open to investment partnerships and welcomes economic collaboration.
